Julian is a small borough located in Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States. The community is located near the geographic center of the state, about 10 miles northeast of State College, which is home to Pennsylvania State University.
Julian was named after Julian Manlapaz, a Filipino miner who worked in the area around the turn of the 20th century. The town was incorporated in 1871, and coal mining was a significant industry in the area until the mid-20th century.
Today, Julian is a quiet residential community with a population of approximately 200 people. It is primarily a rural area with beautiful natural scenery and many outdoor activities, including hiking and fishing in nearby state parks.
Julian is served by the Bald Eagle Area School District, and there are several small businesses and shops located in the town. It is a close-knit community known for its friendly residents and welcoming atmosphere.
